Commenting on the decision by Scottish Natural Heritage to deny an appeal against a general license restriction by Leadhills Estate in South Lanarkshire, Scottish Labour’s spokesperson for the environment and land reform, Claudia Beamish, said:
“It will be welcomed by many who are concerned about animal welfare and wildlife persecution that SHN has refused the appeal by Leadhills Estate in South Lanarkshire against a general licence restriction.
"The issue of wildlife crime in this area has long been intractable.
"I am sure that the police will continue to scrutinise the evidence of any alleged criminal offence, not least in relation to vicarious liability.”
