Commenting on the cancellation of the COP26 climate conference scheduled to take place in Glasgow this November, Scottish Labour Environment, Land Reform and Climate Change spokesperson Claudia Beamish said:
"It is essential that equity is at the core of tackling COVID-19 now, and at the core of future climate policy and action: marginalised voices must be heard.
“Both COVID-19 and the climate crisis are global crises calling for co-operation and collective action to address challenges from family to global structures.
“When the virus is controlled, and we are out the other side, there will be much to build on from the incredible support across communities which was apparent in relation to planning for COP26 before the pandemic and is now clear for all to see in relation to the volunteering to support our communities."
