Commenting on reports in TES today that subjects are being removed 'below the radar' because of the teacher recruitment crisis, Labour's Education spokesperson Iain Gray said:

"This is a brutal appraisal of the SNP's so called top priority by the very people in the front line - our teachers.

"After eleven years of SNP government the workforce crisis in our schools is so bad that subjects are being removed.

"That would be shocking enough - but the idea that this is being obscured is simply disgraceful.

"To start to reverse this mess we need to see proper funding for our schools and a fair deal for our teachers."
