ScotRail’s performance has plummeted further to breach the company’s contract with the Scottish Government, Scottish Labour can reveal.

The beleaguered operator’s Public Performance Measure (PPM) across 2018/19 sunk to 87.4%, below a breach level of 87.56 % and well short of the 92.5% target set out in the contract.

It is the worst annual performance recorded by the franchise under Abellio’s watch.

Scottish Labour’s transport spokesperson Colin Smyth MSP said:

“Thousands of people are being let down on Scotland’s railways everyday.

“Performance levels are falling but rail fares are rising.

“Despite promises of improvement from ScotRail, and the Transport Secretary, things are getting worse not better.

“Scottish Labour say it’s time to bring this chaos to an end and take our railways into public hands so passengers have a service they can rely on.”
