Responding to Nicola Sturgeon's latest comments on currency in a separate Scotland, Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard said:

“This currency debate is a distraction from the real and serious problems Scotland faces - a low pay economy, exhausted public services and 1 in 4 children living in poverty.

“Nicola Sturgeon’s economic plan for independence is now being cobbled together to appease the fundamentalist wing of her party,when the country just wants her to focus on jobs,schools and hospitals.

“Leaving the UK would lead to unprecedented of austerity for Scotland’s public services. Each currency option the First Minister has tried simply makes that worse.
